Montag, 19. Juli 2010Unsere Kistenwelt Eustace Conway bekam von klein auf von seiner Mutter "Unterricht" über das Leben in der Natur. Wegen seines fürchterlichen Vaters verbrachte er die meiste Zeit im Naturkundemuseum und im Wald hinter seinem Haus. Er lernte alles über Tiere und Pflanzen und die Kultur der Indianer. Er jagte, stellte Fallen, häutete Tiere, bereitete sie zu und fertigte Kleidungsstücke aus ihrem Fell. Mit sieben Jahren konnte er mit einem Wurfmesser ein Streifenhörnchen erlegen. Mit zehn ein rennendes Eichhörnchen aus 15m Entfernung mit Pfeil und Bogen töten. Mit 12 ging er allein und ohne Ausrüstung in den Wald baute sich einen Unterschlupf und überlebte für eine Woche dort. Mit 17 zog er von zuhause aus und lebte fortan in einem Tippi in den Bergen.Elisabeth Gilbert hat diesen Mann und sein Leben in einem Buch beschrieben. Gleich zu Anfang berichtet sie über einen Vortrag von Eustace Conway, bei dem er Kindern in einem Ferienlager den Unterschied zwischen dem freien Leben in der Natur und dem zivilisierten westlichen Alltag deutlich macht: They wake up every morning in the box of their bedroom because a box next to them started making beeping noises to tell them it was time to get up.They eat their breakfast out of a box and then they throw that box away into another box. Then they leave the box where they live and get into a box with wheels and drive to work, which is just another big box broken up into lots of little cubicle boxes where a buch of people spend their days sitting and staring at the computer boxes in front of them. Hm ... it does. Where is my way out of the boxes?

Boxes aint that bad man. But you can go with rounder shapes if you prefer.
Krasse Darstellung. So hat man noch nie darüber nachgedacht.. find ich äußerst interessant und teilweise stimmt das auch!!
